Purpose

The Fleet Status Definitions menu item displays the status codes that are available to you to assign to your fleet. The benefit of having specific status codes and using them effectively is that you are better able to determine your fleet availability and know instantly what cars are ready to rent, on back lot, sold, due for service, etc.

You may add more codes if you wish, but do not delete any of the default codes supplied with the system. These allow the system to categorize the fleet for the purpose of utilization reporting.

Fields

Status - The numeric status code that has been assigned to this status.

Description – Enter a complete description for the associated code in this field.

Status Type – This field is used to indicate the type of status assigned to each status definition. This type is selectable via the drop radio-set list.

  • Prep’d (Prepared) – Vehicle is on your lot and ready for rental.
  • Not Prep’d (Not Prepared) – Similar to available, but not ready just yet. In the Availability calculation, unprepared cars are considered prepared an hour after they are first used in the calculation.
  • On Rent – Vehicle is currently on rent.
  • Out of Service - Vehicle needs servicing, either because a problem ticket was put on them or because of a repair order. These cars CAN be rented out, but you'll have to key-in the unit number by hand on the Sales screen.
  • Unavailable – These cars are not used in any calculations. This is the status type you use if the vehicle is stolen, wrecked, or otherwise cannot be rented.
  • Sold – Vehicle has been sold and is now listed in your Sold Fleet.
